Overall Reflection:

During my time in IT365 I have learned so much. I can honestly say that I have really enjoyed this class. The class has taught me many things that will help me become a strong teacher. In this class I learned so much that I could use in my future classroom one day. I believe that is was best for me to participate in this class and learn all things about technology in the classroom. As technology is advancing, I believe that learning how to work technology and programs before I get into the workforce is the best plan. In this class we worked on and learned many items toward technology in the classroom. We made an introduction video, movie, a web page for our future classrooms, created concept maps, made test, learned about Google Groups, and more. All of these aspects will be used greatly. They will all benefit me as a teacher once I get into my own classroom. My favorite project that I put together in this class was the Web Page. I really loved doing this. I thought it was a great way for Dr. Beedle to teach us how to create a web page. I also believe that one-day when I have my own class that it will benefit me. The webpage was customized to the way I wanted it. I believe that it was also easy to read for future parents. Parents will be able to go on there and see what is going on throughout the coarse of the class. My second favorite thing in the class was the Concept Map. I really loved doing this. I loved how it was up to me to pick a topic. I chose to do religions all over the world. I believe that this map could benefit my future classroom because my classmates and me really learned a lot by the concept maps. As my peers presented theirs, we learned that everyone chose a different topic. I believe that I can use this in my classroom for the students to learn a lot more information and to engage them more than just teaching off of a slide show. I really believe that everything I learned in the class will really benefit me in the future. I believe all the aspects of teaching technology were greatly introduced by Dr. Beedle. He really helped each student with each assignment. His enthusiasm throughout the course impacted each student. I really loved how he let each student pick his or her own topic for each assignment.  I also really loved how each student got to created his or her own blog. It was really easier to post all of the assignment on a blog. I also found it to be a whole lot more fun.

Intro Video:

The first assignment we had to do in the class was to create a blog through Google. This blog is where each student is going to post all of his or her own assignments. On the first day after we created our blog, each student had to create his or her own introduction video. This video was so much fun because it was the first day that we got to engage with our fellow peers in the class. Each student had to get with a peer and make a introduction video stating their name, major, hometown, hobbies, and important things about themselves. Once you were done making the video, you had to post it on the blog that you created previous to making the video. This video was our first assignment that appeared on our blog. After posting the video, students made it accessible to watch for anyone that was interested. This activity was fun activity to do with other peers. It helped us meet and learn other people. The standard that goes toward  this assignment is: Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity: Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. A. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness, B. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources. C. Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes, D. Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments. (ISTE Standards for Teachers)

Movie:

In this class one of the coolest assignments that we did was the Movie. Each student got to create a movie about any topic they wanted. Each student had to use his or her own pictures in the movie. Every student in the class chose a different topic, which was very interesting. The requirements of this project were to have at least ten pictures, music, story slides, and a credit slide. I chose to do my movie on my two brothers and I. It was really exciting to show my classmates my brothers and I. I believe that this assignment will be really fun for my future students. I believe that it is fun to tell everyone a story the way you want, through pictures you want, and through song. I believe that I can one day allow my students to use this on school assignments as well. Learning about creating a movie was very fun for me. The standard that best fit this assignment was: Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity. Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. A. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness. B. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources. C. Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes. D. Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments.

 Google Groups:

The Google Groups assignment was very fun because it allowed my peers and I to present different topics found through Google. The assignment instructions were get in a group and explore all of the Google tabs. We were asked to create a Google drive and more. Each group was asked to create a presentation through Google slides about technology. My group chose to do our slides on social media. Social media today is very big in individual’s lives. We believe that making a presentation through google slides would really be informative to other peers. Each student was required to have six slides a piece on the presentation. We choose to do Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. These many webpages are big in people’s lives today. My part of the assignment was to talk about Pinterest and tell my peers in the class about it. This really is a good thing to include in my future class because it is one assignmen on many different small topics. The standard that best fit this assignment was: Model digital age work and learning. Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. A. Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations. B. Collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation. C. Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital age media and formats. D. Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning.

Web Tools:

This assignment was where we were required to make our own rubrics, test, and bookmarks. This assignment really helped me because it was the first time for me every to make a test and a rubric. I believe that this assignment really helped me because it taught me aspects that I will need in my classroom one day. I chose to do both of my tests on History. I chose to do my first test on the Bill of Rights. I believe that all students need to know the first ten amendments that is classified as the bill of rights. The second test was on the first 10 presidents. Many students only know the presents that have been in term through their lives. I believe that it is good to teach my students all of the presidents. When I was in high school one test that I took is a test where I had to name all of the presidents in order. I believe that this is good for my future class one day. My rubric was also something I will use once I become a teacher. It was on writing. D. Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning

Concept Map:

The concept map was one of my favorite things that I completed in this class. The concept map allowed me to teach on a topic in a new and creative way. It really allowed me to be very creative while teaching a lesson. I chose to do my concept map on world religions. I was so much fun because I got to present each religion in different ways. I was allowed to add links, add color coordination, and add pictures. This will really help me in my class one day because it will engage my students more than just a small presentation. The standard that best fit this assignment was: Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments: Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the Standards•S. A. Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity, B. Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress, C. Customize and personalize learning activities to address students’ diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources, D. Provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards, and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching.

Web Page:

This was my favorite assignment of the class. We were required to create a web page for our future classroom.  I chose to do a 3rd grade web page for my future class. This web page was required to have a home page, web resource page, personal page, and a coarse information page. It was so much fun to create a webpage that I will one day use to help my parents and students know what is going on in the coarse. D. Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning

Lawsuit against Google.

This article talks about google and the invasion of privacy that it brings. Four college students at UC Berkeley was sick and tired of google always invading their privacy so they filed a lawsuit on Google. Inc. In the end as the lawsuit went on google states that educational use was being invading. All of the four students received 10,000 dollars. Except one student did not think that was enough and states that it was not fair that Google got away with invading personal privacy.

I would be just like the student. Even though the students got paid, google is still getting away with invading people's personal privacy. I personally do not want google invading my privacy. What is even the point? Why in the world would they want to invade peoples privacy. In the end people are constantly getting mad at them and suing them.

#9 Google

In this article it informs you on what google has been doing. Google and chrome have been invading students privacy for quiet sometimes. They have been warned to give students privacy, but the article states that google did not get the hint. In 2012, had to pay up to $22.5 million because they broke their privacy contract. In the end google agreed to period privacy for adults as part of a settlement.

My personal opinion on this article is that I think that this is completely wrong of google. I personally do want anyone invading me every single time that I get on google. I believe that everyone is entitled to their on privacy and no one needs to be invading the privacy of others. So why in the world is google wanting to invade private of people? I believe that they would freak out if we invaded their privacy.

Life on Mars

When we think of sMars we think of just a red planet in the sky that has no life on it. We think of a planet that has nothing on it, with no water, and no people. This article proved otherwise. On this mission a crew set from Hawaii going to live on sMars. They lived on sMars for quiet awhile and learned how to live without all the necessities that earth provides. Living on Mars the crew learned how to communicate differently with people, and with people on Earth. The crew living on Mars also had to learn how to live on a planet with no life. Living on Mars they had to live in a dome that was kept sealed. They were not allowed to walk out the door every time they wanted to. I believe that this article was so cool because you learned a lot about all the position of the crew members that lived on Mars, and what they had to do to live on the planet for so long. I believe that it was also cool that the crew had to wait a while to communicate with people on earth.

IPADS IN THE CLASSROOM

In the article "What does research really say about iPads in the classroom?" they talk about the use of iPads that are being used in the classroom. The article talks about how professors automatically assume that student teachers know how to use technology and iPads. The results show that student teachers do not know a lot about teaching with iPads and technology. New teachers are also not professionally trained to teach their student first on how to use the iPads. Teachers only have the time teach, and allows the students naturally to get on the iPad when the students have free time

I personally believe that teachers need to learn more about teaching with iPads. I believe that kids now days kids can work an iPad better than most adults. I believe that when you give a student a iPad that the child will automatically be wanting to play games, but if you make your learning interesting then the child will want to learn. I believe that it would also be fun for students if sometimes you turn your lesson into lessons that goes toward technology. In the end kids will learn lessons, learn more about iPads, and no more about downloading apps, etc.

John Hunter

John Hunter is a very smart man. When he got the job as a gifted teacher John Hunter wanted to teach how he wanted to teach. When he asked his employers what they wanted him to do they said, " What do you want to do." John Hunter wanted to be a teacher that the kids loved and that the kids wanted to be with. John Hunter taught with much love and inspiration. He took the inspiration and love from his past like his mom, his father, and his teachers and wanted to teach his students with that inspiration and love. With John Hunter's inspiration he did not want to be a boring teacher. He created a game called, The World Peace Game. The World Peace Game was based on the wisdom table that was in the principals office. The World Peace Game engaged students to learn history, world peace, global warming, science, countries, armed forces, policies, etc. During the game you are being taught but you are also having fun. If the students come to a point in the game where they do not know what to do, John Hunter has taught them not to ask him but to figure it out themselves. The World Peace Game teaches the students how to get out of a bind. In each World Peace game each of the students finish the game feeling different things, but most of the time they feel like have conquered.

Top 10

In the new article, 10 Most Engaging Uses of Tech Integration, the author gives 10 great examples of how to engage students with tech. The article talks about how teachers need to know how to use tech, not tech geeks that know how to teach. The 10 things that the article talks about are 10 things that get the attention of teens today but also engages them. One of the 10 things is audio feedback. audio feedback can be a teacher or a student allowing them to engage and get personal through audio or video. This is a great way because teachers and students have proven that it can be more informational.

In this article, it list the many ways to engage students using tech. I personally loved when the author talked about social media. Social media is a great hunk of teens life in today's time. It is very smart when teachers allow students to engage in learning by using social media. Social media has been proven to have a positive correlation with teens today!

Tracking Emotions and Mindsets

Many researchers have tested many students on their emotions, mindsets, personality traits, and cognitive processes. Many of these test were based on the students facial expressions, heart rate, posture, and many more traits. Many of the researches took these test and saw the interest and boredom that each student had. Emotions and personality traits have a powerful influence on how students learn. The article also states that there were many things that happened in a classroom and labs that you cannot gather from a webcam or online classes. Teachers can see more emotions, mindsets, and personality in person. Many teachers do not know who you are when they teach you on a webcam or a online class. Teachers do not know how nervous you are to take a test, how excited you are to turn in a paper, and how glad you are when class is over.

I agree with the article. The research that has been tested were correct in my eyes. When you are sitting in a class, your teachers can see the emotions, mindsets, and your personality. I have taken many online classes, and I did not even feel that I was in a classroom. I did not get to talk to my teacher and  I did not get to see the other students emotions and personalities. I most certainly did not get to meet people.  In classrooms and labs you are see the teachers emotions, personalities, and mindsets by the way they act. These traits can be so helpful.

TEENAGE VIEW ON EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY IS A GREAT WAY TO LEARN ABOUT ALL THE NEW THINGS IN TECHNOLOGY TODAY. IN THE ARTICLE, A YOUNG TEENAGER NAME,Soraya Shockley, IS DESCRIBING THE MANY DIFFERENT THINGS THAT TEENAGERS USE IN TECHNOLOGY. SHE ALSO DESCRIBES WHY TEENS USE THEM. FIRST, SHE TALKS ABOUT TABLETS AND HOW TABLETS USE TO BE A DEVICE THAT PEOPLE CAN USE FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES, BUT NOW THEY ARE USED FOR CANDY CRUSH, NETFLIX, AND FOR PEOPLES ENTERTAINMENT. THE AUTHOR GOES ON TO TALK ABOUT MANY MORE DEVICE AND WHAT THEY WERE MADE FOR. AND HOW THEY ARE REALLY USED IN TODAY'S WORLD.

IF YOU WANT ME TO BE PERFECTLY HONEST... I AGREE WITH HER 100%. SHE WAS VERY HONEST. I LOVED WHEN SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT GOOGLE DRIVE AND SHE WAS ASKING THE AUDIENCE IF THEY REMEMBER CARRYING AROUND SCHOOL SUPPLIES. I ALSO LOVE HOW SHE TURNED IT IN TO HOW GOOGLE DRIVE HAS EVERYTHING AND YOU DO NOT EVEN NEED TO CARRY AROUND YOUR PENS AND PAPERS BECAUSE WHAT YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS TYPE WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE THERE THE NEXT DAY. IN THE END OF READING THIS ARTICLE, I HAD A STRONG GRASP AT HOW THE AUTHOR FELT ABOUT TECHNOLOGY AND HOW THE DESIGNERS WANTED TECHNOLOGY TO BE AND IT IS NOT LIKE HOW THEY PLANNED FOR IT TO TURN OUT.
